Q: Can I use Fungal Free Nails on my fingernails?

A: Absolutely. Fungal Free Nails is perfectly safe to be used as a cure for fingernail fungus (also called onychomycosis). Use exactly the same way as you would for toenails.

Q: How long should I wait for Fungal Free Nails to penetrate the nail and dry before putting on socks and shoes?

A: Wait approximately 30 minutes after application to put on socks and shoes. Fungal Free Nails effectively penetrates the nail within 3 minutes, however, for best results, allow the medication to work on the nail for 30 minutes with each application (minimum of 5 minutes). After you may wipe your nail clean and put on socks and shoes.

Q: What makes Fungal Free Nails different from other topical products claiming to cure onychomycosis (toenail fungus)?

A: Fungal Free Nails, like all other products, has ingredients that can and will kill nail fungus. The problem with the other products is that they are unable to PENETRATE the nail in order to get to the nail bed which is where the fungus lives, grows and spreads. The reason the other products are ineffective is because they are water soluble solutions. Water cannot penetrate the skin (more importantly the toenail which is thick layers of skin). If water could penetrate keratin (skin), you would blow up like a balloon getting into a bathtub!

Fungal Free Nails can penetrate the skin because of a patent pending [see USPTO Penetrating carrier, anti-fungal composition using the same and method for treatment of dermatophytes ] carrier system that can actually go through your nail in order to deliver the anti-fungal cure to the nail bed. Complete scientific information about this process is available on our science page.

Q: Why/How does Fungal Free Nails PENETRATE the nail where other topical products don't?

A: Fungal Free Nails PENETRATES the nail because it isn't a water soluble solution. Fungal Free Nails incorporates a naturally occurring, non-toxic, lipid, non-polar, organic solvent that carries with it the necessary lipid soluble fungicidal essential oils to the nail bed in order to kill the fungus that is living, growing, and spreading there.

Complete scientific information about this process is available on our science page.

Q: How many ounces/mL does one vial of Fungal Free Nails contain?

A: One vial of Fungal Free Nails contains 10 mL and is approximately a three to four months supply when used as directed on a single infected toenail.

Q: What are the all natural ingredients in Fungal Free Nails?

A: Fungal Free Nails is All Natural, Completely Safe with No Side-Effects.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Juglans regia 8x, sepia 8x, mucor mercado 8x, palmarosa 8x, melaleuca alternofolia, camphor, eucalyptus globulus, anise, cinnemonum, mentha piperata, salvia sclerae, juniperus virginum, mystira fragans, lavandula latifolia, terebinthae oleum, vitis vinifera.

INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Simmonsia chinensis, nujol.

All of the ingredients in Fungal Free Nails are on the FDA's Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) list. Fungal Free Nails is doctor recommended, completely safe, 100% natural and non-toxic.

Q: How many people are estimated to have fungal nail disease in the United States?

A: 30 to 35 million folks in the United States have one or more ugly discolored toenails.

Q: How about worldwide?

A: It's not possible to guess accurately but a reasonable estimate is 2% to 18% (180 million to 1.1 billion).

Q: Why hasn't anyone found an inexpensive effective solution for this problem until now?

A: The simple answer is that in the greatest majority of people the condition is purely cosmetic and the major pharmaceutical companies have historically concentrated on finding solutions to medical problems that threaten loss of function, loss of limb, or loss of life.

Q: Clearly as a society we are generally concerned with having a normal healthy appearance. With so many people suffering from this condition isn't the potential market large enough to attract a major effort from some entity?

A: You would think so. However, nail fungus is extremely hard to eradicate. The most common organism that causes the condition, Trichophyton rubrum, gets into the nail bed of the toes. Oral prescription medications which have to be given in doses that reach a therapeutic blood and tissue level, are expensive, have a definite side effect profile which, although not of frequent occurrence, is potentially dangerous, and many times either doesn't cure the problem or if it does, the problem recurs (comes back).

Q: If oral meds are not the answer, what about topical medication?

A: Interestingly, the only Federal Drug Administration approved topical medicine for the condition of nail fungus is PENLAC which, according to its manufacturer, claims to completely cure this condition in only 5.5% of the cases in which it is used. If you look through the package inserts or the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) for any other product being sold as a topical antifungal agent to my knowledge you cannot find one that has an indication for nail fungus.

Q: Why is that?

A: The simple answer is that none of these products have satisfied the FDA’s requirement that they prove their worth according to established scientific criteria.

Q: Many of these products contain ingredients that are known to kill fungus. How come they don’t seem to work?

A: The reason that these antifungal products work poorly if at all is that they are put into a water solution and applied to the nail. Since the nail is made of keratin, which in a much less thick layer also forms the outside layer of the skin, and keratin is not penetrable by water the antifungal compounds don’t get to where the fungus resides, which is the nail bed. If keratin could be penetrated by water it wouldn't be safe for us to take bath since we would absorb water through our skin and “blow up.” This obviously doesn't happen.

Q: So how do we get antifungals through keratin?

A: Keratin is does not contain living tissue cells so it can’t actively transport any molecules. It does however have lipid or fat channels that allow certain fat soluble molecules to pass through. These types of fat soluble molecules exist in nature and fall into the chemical family that includes certain organic solvents as well as essential oils. These solvents enhance the diffusion or penetration of the essential oils in Fungal Free Nails that have been shown to kill nail fungus.

Q: Can these other non-carrier essential oils do the job of eliminating the fungus that causes fungal nails?

A: Yes! There are numerous naturally occurring plant oils that are known to have antifungal properties and that have been shown in scientifically published studies [Journal of Photography] to kill the fungus that causes fungal nails.

Q: Has Fungal Free Nails been shown to penetrate keratin?

A: Most definitely. We tagged Fungal Free Nails with Turmeric, a colored food additive and demonstrated that Fungal Free Nails penetrated the keratin of horse hooves at ten times the rate of PENLAC. We also demonstrated almost instantaneous complete penetration of cadaver nails in a leading University Laboratory in California. This laboratory is the reference laboratory (the Gold Standard) for skin and nail penetration in the United States.

Q: Some other products claim to work in days or several weeks. Is that possible?

A: Unless these products contain some magical ingredient or combination of ingredients that accelerates the growth of normal healthy nails by a factor of five to twenty times, it is not possible. Normal nail grows very slowly. Depending on how much of the total surface of the nail is effected by nail fungus, the process of restoring the appearance of the nail to its normal clear condition may take up to one year.

Q: Doctors know that it is very hard to get patients to do any therapeutic maneuver such as take a pill or apply a topical remedy with great regularity. How can we overcome this when we have to apply Fungal Free Nails twice a day for up to one year?

A: The easiest way is to keep Fungal Free Nails at the bedside and apply it before getting out of bed in the morning and before going to sleep at night.

Q: What can I do to help Fungal Free Nails do its job?

A: The fungus that causes this problem thrives under warm, moist, low oxygen conditions. Make sure that your shoes fit properly and are well ventilated, and that your feet and toes are dry. Shoes that are too small will traumatize the nails and keep them from improving.

Q: What should I do if Fungal Free Nails doesn’t seem to be improving in spite of doing the above?

A: There are infrequent instances of extreme resistance to clearing; these nails may take much longer to show improvement. Please let us know if this is happening. We will advise you of what to do.

Q: Did it take a long time to develop this product?

A: It took many years to figure out (1) the mechanism of nail penetration, (2) the carrier substances that would penetrate the nail, (3) the naturally occurring antifungal substances that would be transported with the carrier substances to the nail bed, and (4) how to document the results.

Q: How can Fungal Free Nails claim to "cure" onychomycosis?

A: Because (a) Fungal Free Nails actually works as demonstrated in clinical trials, and (b) it is manufactured according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States.

Q: What are the ingredients in Fungal Free Nails?

A: Fungal Free Nails is All Natural, Completely Safe with No Side-Effects.
